Frontlist | Ackland Art Museum to reopen this month; virtual eventson Jan 14, 2021 CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Ackland Art Museum in Chapel Hill will reopen this month and continue its virtual programs, which include activities for kids and families. The museum, which is part of UNC-Chapel Hill, announced this week plans to reopen on Jan. 27 with new COVID safety measures, including timed ticketing, limited capacity and requirements for visitors and staff to wear masks. The museum will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesdays through Saturdays, starting Jan. 27. In addition to reopening, the museum also has a robust collection of virtual programs and activities for art lovers, including kids and families. They include an coloring book, activity packet with writing and drawing activities, 3D digital models of Ackland objects and online museum resources for both teachers and parents. Check the Ackland at Home page for details. On top of those activities, virtual programs are continuing. They include a virtual family and friends day on Jan. 24; virtual art adventures for kids ages 6 to 9 on Feb. 13; and another virtual friends and family day on Feb. 28.
